The 5th Edition of A Guide to EU-OPS 1& JAR-OPS 3 includes the addition of amendment 2 to EU-OPS 1. EU-OPS 1& JAR-OPS 3 covers the operational requirements of any civil aircraft operated as a commercial air transport flight. EU-OPS 1 applies to aeroplane operators whose main place of business is within an EU Member State. Whereas JAR-OPS 3 applies to helicopter operators whose main place of business is within a JAA Member State.

A requirement for the issue of a JAR Pilot Licence or the conversion of an existing national JAA Member State Licence to a JAR Licence is a knowledge of EU-OPS 1 for aeroplanes, or, JAR-OPS 3 for helicopters.

This guide provides that knowledge in a concise and easy way to follow. The author holds an Honours Degree in mechanical engineering and a JAR Commercial Helicopter Pilot Licence. He is employed by the Irish Aviation Authority as a Flight Operations Inspector and Flight Examiner.
